Reviews for Phantom of Hogwarts

This is such a strong chapter, and I echo my earlier review "Wow". I can imagine you did indeed work hard on that letter, I mean we have a few base facts about Severus' life but that's it! You really did a good job putting together a believable past for him. Great chapter! p.s. - I had forgotten to mention -Hermione slipped up there last chapter saying she'd talk to Severus! After all, to everyone but Ginny, her talking to him wouldnt do much! She should be more careful!

Author's Response: *blush* Aww, thank you! It's always gratifying to know that someone appreciates something I put so much effort into. And yes, Hermione DOES need to be more careful. ;) Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

So much to think about with this chapter! My first thought was that this was a clever way to introduce some Snape backstory. But then I thought that this really is how lovers like to get to know each other, hungry for stories, and I remembered how I longed for much, much more Snape story than JKR gave us, and was puzzled by learning no more about Eileen Prince or anything else that would have served as sympathetic insight to this character. That made me realize how much Snape fans, and your Hermione, are lovers of Snape and how JKR was not and therefore was far less curious about him. Wow. I never thought of it that way before. With the HP series, as the volumes came out one by one, there was the hunger to find out what would happen -- and the hunger to find out backstory -- and the backstory hunger is fueled by love.

Author's Response: *blush* Wow! I love that something I created sent you down such an amazing path of realization. *beams* I'm glad you found it clever. I am pretty proud of this backstory, actually. I spent a lot of time working on something that I thought would work with the canon bits we had and would make sense with all the vast emptiness we're left with too. Thank you for such a lovely review! :)

Wow...so this is what Severus' life was like! I can imagine how Hermione felt as she read it. Well at least that is all said and we can continue moving foward!

Author's Response: *beams* I love to get a "wow." I worked so hard on that letter. Thanks for reviewing! :)

Wonderful chapter...I'm so glad Severus has started to open up about the past. The letter is really well-written and seems heart-felt and in character. On with the re-read...

Author's Response: The letter was SO wearying to write. It was so difficult and emotionally charged for me that I felt worn out after all the painstaking detail I worked to put in it. I'm glad it came through. Thanks so much for a great review! :)

Such a wide variety of characters interacting, well written with subtle plot developments throughout. Cheers for posting.

Author's Response: *blush* Aww, thank you! Writing that letter and coming up with Snape's history (before we knew much) was a challenge, so I hope it works. :) Thanks for reviewing! :)

Quite a touching chapter; it made me want to cry a little, too. When I imagine the perfect actress to play Eileen Snape (born Prince), I always picture firing up the Wayback Machine and casting the late Rosalie Crutchley. She fit the description beautifully: thin, with dark hair and eyes, and pointy features, and a strong voice she could make just as snide as Alan Rickman can make his voice, she would have been great as either Eileen, or as Irma Pince. Or both... Heh! Good job.

Author's Response: Hmm, I think I may have to go look up that actress now. I'm glad it managed to make you want to cry, since I tried to put a lot of pain and pathos in it. So, that means it worked! LOL Thanks again. :)

Wow. That was so sad. But it certainly does answer a lot of questions. I suppose every chapter can't be all sweetness and light. Good job making Snape's history come alive.

Author's Response: "making Snape's history come alive" *beams* Thank you! I worked so hard on coming up with something that I thought was plausible, based on what we know already. It was quite painstaking, and I'm so glad it came alive for you. That's one of the coolest reviews I've gotten. Thank you so much for reviewing! :)

Ah, ha...so now we know! It surely answers a lot of the questions we've been wondering about all these years. Be interesting to see how much of it JKR's put in #7, huh? You seem to be channeling her quite a bit...

Author's Response: Man, I WISH I could channel her. LOL I hope you found MY version to be plausible enough. Thanks so much for reviewing! :)
