| Funny how we can tell you wrote this pre-DH because, even though you are spot-on with your canon portrayals as usual, you give James a little and Dumbledore a LOT more credit than they ended up deserving, from JKR's portrayal! Ha. I wonder if they even got a single detention for the Prank. I am really happy for Snape in this chapter because his discomfort over Hermione's grief on his behalf is exactly the same as what a normal, healthy adult goes through when falling in love, not something compromised or celibate or inferior because he's Snape and must always be deprived. He wouldn't be familiar with this sympathy, of course; Albus, er, JKR, usually reserved Fawkes' phoenix tears for others! But even in DH canon, Hermione is the one to weep for others and offer them that healing. I'm glad she gets to do this here. Author's Response: *beams* This was another chance for me to come up with a plausible backstory based on the snippets in canon, and I'm so glad you liked the way it played out. | Fab. Just fab. I love the memory sequence, and how he trusts her with it. And, of course, if anything can convince Severus that he's misjudged Harry, it would be the fact that he kept his word about not revealing That Memory. Good job.
