Reviews for Phantom of Hogwarts

This is simply marvellous! I nearly didn't give this story a chance because the 'Snape in first person perspective' narrative usually really irks me, but I've been a huge Phantom of the Opera fan for decades and so I decided to read the first chapter to test the waters. SO glad that I did - it is beautifully written and actually the 'first perspective' really adds to the narrative, and it's nice that it switches back to 'outside perspective' as well, balancing it. I was positively tickled pink by Snape's first reading of the script, and loved how you've kept his character consistent with his reactions. Absolutely fantastic work and I'm looking forward to reading it through in full! What fun!

Author's Response: *beams* Aww, what a lovely review! I used the 1st person as a way of illustrating his isolation, and as he begins connecting to others, it fades out to 3rd person for everything. I hope it won't be too jarring now that you've liked the 1st person usage! ;D I do so hope you continue to enjoy this mammoth undertaking. Thank you so much for reviewing! :)

I'm back! I banned myself from fanfic for a while, when you're a freelancer it's SO easy to be distracted by the wonderful stories on here, so I'm coming back to it now.. I find myself jealous of his silk sheets! Also, a tiny thing, towards the end you've spelled arse 'arss' - just thought I'd call attention to it.

Author's Response: Oooooh, good eye! *dashes off and fixes that in all the archives the fic is in* LOL Thank you for letting me know so I could remedy that. When I went through and had to edit EVERY use of the word "ass" and change it to "arse" I guess I hubbed it up. ;D I hear ya on being distracted when you can't afford to be. I'm procrastinating right now instead of writing scholarly research stuff I'm supposed to be working on. *sigh* Oh, and satin/silk sheets can be very delish. *wicked grin* Anyway, welcome back, and I hope you enjoy it! Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

Haha I love how he was against it at first but soon changed his mind. Very interesting indeed - especially since I know nothing about The Phantom of the Opera - you're making it very easy to read and understand without prior knowledge.

Author's Response: *bounces* Yay! I'm glad you're finding it easy to follow without being familiar with the play before now. Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

Oh, how I love this story! I think back to the times I've re-read it but realized I have never read it with it all being complete. I feel like I'm reading a novel, it flows so well! I like reading it in one sitting (well not exactly, within a few days of course, darn life and such, getting in the way ;] ) I didn't want to comment until the end, but i couldn't resist this commenting on this chapter, even though I have before! I just LOVE how Snape conduct his "research" starting out dreading it, thinking it some ridiculous play about ghosts and then just....coming to the realization of how amazing the play truly is and how he truly can relate to the phantom....and how "his" Christine makes him feel, already! He is so real in your story too! I love how picks apart the play, sort of like studying some very complex potion he's never heard of before!!! Such satisfactory reading, no matter ho many times Ive read it! Especially because of all the insight we get of Severus himself through his analysis of Erik....*sigh*...my only wish is that this could somehow be performed live...

Author's Response: *beams* Wow! You just made my morning. LOL I'm so glad you enjoy it so much, even on re-reads. Thank you so much for such a lovely review! :)

I see him getting interested despite himself! I know it starts when he sees it's a French libretto, but the point I think he really forgets himself is when he wonders if Dumbledore has a spell for accents. Ha. You're going to go through with this, aren't you, Snape.

Author's Response: ROFL!!!!! I am so totally enjoying your viewpoint. Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

Wonderful! I love how Severus takes apart the play , really understands and appreciates it. And even he sees how only he could be the phantom. With a much better fate of course!

Author's Response: He better have a much better fate! LOL Nah, he will. ;) I wanted to make sure his internalization of the role was clear from the start. Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

I've been in love with Phantom since well before HP ever came out, and you know? I've never gotten the symbolism of the roof until you pointed it out. It's true though, it's like comparing Heaven to Hell...and Erik's even standing behind the angel statue. Great eye.

Author's Response: *beams* I think I've picked both PotO and the HP characters I'm using apart and put them back together so much by now... LOL Glad you liked it! Thanks so much for reviewing! :)

Your use of SS's internal monologue as narrative truly flowed and offered the reader the ability to move their perceptions in a parallel direction to those of SS. Wonderful, cheers for posting.

Author's Response: I'm glad you thought it worked. It was the best way I could come up with for the reader to be able to follow along with the play being read without having to re-write the whole thing in the story. Thanks so much for reviewing! :)
