It depends on what you mean by "get out of." When we lived in Oregon, just appearing before the traffic court judge (instead of mailing in your fine) would get you a reduction in your fine, usually by as much as half.

I did avoid getting a ticket last winter when I really ought to have gotten one. But it was VERY late (2 am) and VERY cold (20 below) and I was on my way to pick up my husband who had gotten a flat tire on the way home from work, so the cop took pity on me.

The person below me can still remember their home phone number...from when they were a child! (I can!)

Semi-true I can remember it but only because it is still used, sort of. It is one digit different, due to the UK pre-fixes changing a few years ago. And the reason I remember it so well is that when I was 18, I went into labour with my second child on the same day as my mom was moving house and must have called it at least 200 hundred times, unfortunately in the move they had forgot to plug the phone socket in at their new home.

The person below me has used a trampoline within the last 3 months.

False (at the moment). It's nearly 9pm, and I'm out of work by 3. Plus I didn't have to babysit (thank god!).

The person below me wishes it were Thursday already! (I know I do).

Semi-true. I have some friends who are in a celtic rock band called the "Phat Bastidz", named (of course) after a certain Scottish character from the last two Austin Powers films. They rehearse Tuesday and Thursday evenings and I always look forward to listening to them. =)

The person below me knows a lot of useless--but amusing--trivia.

False. At least not enough to get on Jeopardy!

The person below me has recently been given an unusual gift.

False. Anyway, I prefer to give gifts, not to receive them.
I like to see faces shining with joy or surprise... and that's particularly true for old people who think that nobody cares for them!

The person below me has met a celebrity once in his/her life.

PS: LadyWhitehart, I love your signature about earth and chocolate!

I guess it depends on how you define "celebrity" and how you define "met." I've met a lot of well-known SF&F authors at conventions, including Anne McCaffrey and Peter S. Beagle (I won't bore you with a list, except to say that JKR isn't on it, alas). I was nearly knocked over in the Sundance Ski Resort cafeteria by Robert Redford (he was escaping some fans), and nearly knocked over by Jimmy Osmond on the ski slope. And last year, I got a wrong-phone-number call from Shirley Temple Black. The Czech Museum, which wanted to ask her for a donation, mistakenly gave her my phone number. I was on the line with her for a while, trying to help her by looking up the number of the person she was actually trying to call (unfortunately, it was unlisted). I have never spoken with such a gracious lady! And those are my adventures with celebrities.

The person below me prefers to use pens with ink of a color other than black (say, purple ;~) ).

I'm actually rather partial to red.

and my list of "famous" people is nearly too long to mention. Try nearly every member of the Trek series (nearly all of them), quite a few Sci-Fi/Fantasy authors, and comic book authors too. I've been to DragonCon several times and other smaller cons. I'd have to say that the best was when I got to have lunch with Tim Zahn, Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston. They're so cool.

The person below me hates this awful hot weather we're having.

I live in Australia, and am thoroughly FREEZING, so I can't really coment. I can say though that I hate hot weather so if I was there, yes I would be hating it.

The person below me likes the art of Liquidscissors.

Definately True.

Sorry it's been so long everyone, I've been moved across the country to be with my fiance. Finally.

The person below me is disappointed that e3 is being "scaled down."

OK, I volunteer to sound dumb and say I don't know what e3 is. Confused

Welcome back and congratulations, pigwig!

The person below has come across a really interesting HP theory.

My personal favorite is that Ginny Weasley's pygmy puff, Arnold, is really Bellatrix Lestrange in Animagus form.

I too haven't got a clue of what e3 means... Well, I don't really know what "scaled down" means either. This are the disavantages of being Italian, I suppose. I hope somebody will kindly help us (me and Lady Whitehart) supplying an explanation. Wink

About the "interesting" HP theory... I don't think mine is.
I've lately come to think that Snape could die trying to protect Draco... you know, because of the Vow. Crying or Very sad

So, let's welcome other interesting theories.

The person below me will stop reading HP internet stories when book 7 is published... and all our dear paper friends have met their destinies.

Lady W, again congratulations for your "chocolate" signature!

Not a chance! I predict some really fun AU stories will come out in which the authors set out to save their favorite characters who died. I look forward to that, since I'm sure I'll be unhappy with bits of the eventual ending. (Does anyone *really* believe that Snape will survive?)

For the record, I haven't a clue what e3 is either. Confused But "scaled down" means being made smaller or less extensive.

The person below me likes okra.

false.

e3 is the Electronic Entertainmant Expo, a big geek fest for gamers. And apperently, is being "scaled down" which hopefully isn't corporate speak for cancelled. It's the event that geeks like me salivate for every year.

Anyway, it's great to be back!

The person below me likes brocccoli

Edit: because my fingers don't work.
