Greetings and Salutations!

We of aerynfire (as in me and Mzz LFire) would like to announce we have started posting a Sherlock Holmes fanfic we've been working tirelessly to be as close to Conan-Doylely accurate as possible. Titled The Forfeit Daughter, we find Holmes and Watson taking on the case of the odious Arthur Wendell Thurlow, self made entreprenuer...a man who's past has finally caught up with him.

And here's a preview:

I felt another surge of sympathy to my companion. Holmes’s mind was a veritable engine needing constant stoking as a steam engine required coal. "I am sure a client will walk through the door soon," I assured him, and as if in some answer to a prayer there was a knock on that very door.

Holmes glanced at the closed entryway, and then at me with an expression of mild surprise, before putting down his violin and bow as he turned to face the door more fully. "Enter," he called out.

The door opened, and in wandered a rather put out Mrs. Hudson. "Mr. Holmes...there is a man downstairs who wishes to see you. I’ve explained to him that it was late, but he was most insistent."

Holmes's eyes lit up almost instantly. "Show him up, Mrs. Hudson. Show him up at once!"

The older woman sighed, and, muttering about keeping insane hours, moved back the way she had come, only to return a moment later with a tall, red-headed, well built man with a large moustache and dressed impeccably in evening wear.

"Mr. Holmes?" he asked rather gruffly, betraying a slight West Country bias both in speech and in the manner, and did not stand on ceremony as he looked around the room. "I wish to speak with Mr. Sherlock Holmes."

Enjoy and tea and scones to all that read and/or review!

"A lady you say...young or old, Mrs. Hudson?" he asked quickly, sitting forward.

"Young, I should think...well...mid twenties?" she replied. "Impeccable manners...a real lady, I should think, though her clothes don’t quite reflect affluence."

Holmes looked across the room. "Watson, I believe we may have landed ourselves the one that got away..." he enthused, and rose to his feet. "Show her up, Mrs. Hudson! Show her up at once!"

Greetings and Salutations, mes amis!

Just a quick note to invite all to mosey over to Chaos (home to many intreguing and woefully under-reviewed fics) and paruse the latest chapter of our Sherlock Holmes mystery "The Forfeit Daughter."

Just to recap: "The Forfeit Daughter": Holmes and Watson take the case of a wealthy merchant, whose past crimes and indiscretions have now made him a hunted man. However, it is not only his life that now hangs
in the balance.

Chapter Three: Family Reunion: Holmes and Watson escort Miss and the former Mrs. Thurlow to Belgravia, and Arthur is forced to confront his past sins.

Tea and Chocolate Bourbons to all who read and/or review!

And because one must have a teaser...

Her eyes were almost amber in colour, and, for a moment, I could have sworn an oath that I saw a flash of awareness in them, before they wandered almost lazily away to fix on my companion.

Holmes returned her gaze with a softness not often seen in his hawkish, hazel eyes. There was nothing as condescending as pity there, merely a strange personal sort of understanding at the depths to which depression could drive a human being and something that looked like encouragement...even though the chances of it reaching her were slim.

Greetings!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Chapter Four titled the The Prodigal Father is now up on Chaos. Actually, it went up last night, but my son has the flu, so was unable to get to the PRing...

Also Chapters Five (The Pride of Princes) and Six (Matters of the Heart) are in the line for validation, so they should be up relatively shortly. (cross
fingers)

So hurry on over, and enjoy! And as always we welcome any and all reviews.

She only smiled in reply, and took my hand in hers, squeezing it just a little. "It is quite all right, Doctor. I suppose I have waited ten years to hear his explanations and justifications. Also, if we are all to be confined to the same house for even a short period of time, it would be best to get all feelings out into the open...do you not agree?"

"I do...though I must admit," I replied with a smile in return, "on this occasion, it took Holmes of all people for me to take that on board. When it takes Holmes to point such things out to me, I know I am in need of a holiday," I added with a slightly exaggerated sheepishness.

She lowered her head, and appeared to struggle with something, for in the next moment she simply looked up with the most amused expression on her face, and, with a little laugh, she squeezed my hand again. "Well, after this, you must ensure that you get one. I insist."

"I will inform Holmes directly. Your support would be most gratefully received," I returned as my smile grew broader and gradually changed into an encouraging look. "Are you prepared?"

Hey there!

Chapter Five: The Pride of Princes is now up on Chaos! Yup! In this chapter, Holmes and Watson arrive at Claridges to meet with the Rajah...only it seems they need to make an appointment. While Ellen Thurlow makes a scene and proves that she'll never be a real lady.

Normally, I'd have a preview...but due to a very busy RL weekend...I'm rather pooped. So, I promise to next time! Promise!

Hugs to all!

Enjoy!

Just a note to let you all know that Chapter Six, titled Matters of the Heart, is now up on Chaos.

The official summary: As Holmes contemplates the case and the meaning of Mrs. Thurlow's spontaneous utterances, Arthur Thurlow announces he's made some alterations to his will, and the twins do some unsubtle matchmaking.

And because I promised...the preview!

I heard a rustle of fabric behind me, and turned to find Mrs. Thurlow now standing next to me, her eyes fixed on Holmes. "Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary; Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore; While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping; As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door, ‘'Tis some visitor,’ I muttered, ‘tapping at my chamber door; Only this, and nothing more.’" She stared hard at him. "Nevermore...nevermore."

Holmes stubbed his cigarette out on his plate, and stood up to face her. "I hope to change that particular outcome, Mrs Thurlow."

Her eyes continued to bore into his. "Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer, ‘Sir,’ said I, ‘or madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is, I was napping, and so gently you came rapping; And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door; That I scarce was sure I heard you.’ Here I opened wide the door; Darkness there, and nothing more."

He looked at her curiously, a small frown on his face. "I believe, Watson, there is again something more Mrs Thurlow would have us know...though this time, I am somewhat at a loss…"

Wet your appetite? Heh...and I should mention the quotes...are from Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Raven.'

Enjoy and dundee cake and tea to all who review!

Chapter Seven, titled Love's Labours Lost, is now up on Chaos!

That means that there is only two more chapters to go...and the mystery is soon to be solved.

Summary (otherwise know as the official blurb): After a false alarm is called, Holmes, Watson, and Helen Thurlow bear witness to Arthur's confessions to Alice...and later, Holmes and Watson stumble upon the answer to the mystery, only to find they may be too late to stop it.

I want to put a preview...but I think I'll wait till next chapter, as to keep the mystery...a mystery. Smile

Enjoy, please review...and of course tea and crumpets to all who read and review.

Yes...that's right...we're just about done spinning this tale...Chapter Eight is now up and available to read on Chaos.

Titled, The Serpent's Tooth, we find Holmes and Watson racing back to Belgravia in an attempt to thwart the assassin from his very real and intended goals.

We have posted the Epilogue, which helps to wrap things up...and should hopefully get validated in the next day or so. Cross your fingers!

Thanks for following along with us, as we attempt to pay hommage to a brilliant writer and the world's most famous consulting detective.

That's it folks...it's over...the Epilogue to our little mystery is up, and the story is done.

We sincerely hope you enjoyed the ride.

Now...for the fun bit! This story is a launching board! Yup...Holmes and Watson, along with one or two characters from A Forfeit Daughter, will be returning shortly in...An Unforseen Occurance.

However, I would like to stress now that this is not a mystery. It will be out of Dr. Watson's perspective (for the most part) and be a behind the scenes if you will on what has been going on in the cannon. It's looking to be around 15 chapter, will include a short mystery in Arthur Conan Doyle style - yup here is the Watson perspective bit - and a more what is going on in the heads look of the characters. We hope you will endevour to join us on this exploration.

Thank you all again for reading...it's been a right blast!

Hugs to all!
