Summary:
They're in the middle of a war, and neither of them is in a comfortable position. Rivals, with twenty-five years of the past between them, neither innocent in the game they've played since they were children. Two men, neither expecting to ever go down this unfamiliar road, certainly not with each other. No common ground to start from, nowhere to begin building anything except more hatred.
They are, perhaps, among the most unlikely lovers on the planet.
Tell that to a heart.
Special requests: I'm really looking for more than a general proof-read. In general, grammar and mechanics are among my strong points. Where do I drop the ball?
* Bizarre errors that result from getting interrupted in the middle of a sentence and coming back and starting again and writing the second half in a way that makes no sense with the first half.
* Going through and editing and forgetting to delete the word I'm changing.
* A smattering of very consistent misspellings that even my spellchecker is immune to at this point.
* Having characters change eye-color midway through a story
Those are the ones I know that I do, and I'm actively working on them. I like to learn from my beta-readers. It was a beta who pointed out a tendency towards forgetting what a character was doing talking and having gross inconsistencies (as in-- "He's looking out the window now... I thought he was standing in the corner?") It was a different beta who brought it to my attention that I was using the exact same sentence construction an average of twice per paragraph. These are exactly the types of things I want.
Brit-picking would be a bonus, though certainly not required.
The story in question follows canon very closely-- it's set between the pages of OotP and gives huge nods to HBP. Thus, canon knowledge is of great importance.
As it sits, the story is complete at around 135,000 words. I'm working on part two of it-- not a 'sequel' so much as I didn't get as far with it as I'd intended before I hit that 130K word mark and decided it was time to break and do a second story-- it's planned as three parts at this point. I'm looking for someone to work with me through the remainder of the story as well (which will continue to be set between the pages of OotP and HBP)
If you're interested, please get in touch with me. |
