Ugh. About Lily and Severus, I mean, not the story - the story is great. It's beautifully written and I love the idea that Lily and Severus might have developed this Christmas tradition. The "ugh" is more for the kick-in-the-gut sensation I feel anytime I read a Lily/Severus story and think about how crippled a person like Severus would feel in a relationship with Lily. Yes, he made all the wrong choices and in Jo's world, that's the kiss of death, but he was so damaged by lack of love before he ever met Lily. Why would he think that she would ever truly accept him? Your story captures that well: Your Severus has already accepted defeat before Lily has even given her answer. Nicely done. Author's Response: blush Thank you. I understand what you mean by "ugh."
