Melvin was very sweet in this chapter. And I really enjoyed the Gobstones section a great deal.
Author's Response: Melvin is indeed very sweet, and I enjoy writing him. And who knows, I might just take up playing Gobst... marbles, I mean! marbles!! :P |

A neat way for some father-daughter bonding to take place! I also enjoy seeing shades of Severus in Demeter. For example when she snapped at poor old Melvin and accused him of waiting for her.
Author's Response: Demeter's daddy's girl alright :) |

Alek Riverbed...Alan Rickman...is it just a coninkindink? After all, they both have Hazel eyes! Loved this chapter. So sweet seeing Severus mentoring and getting to know Demeter! Sweet!
Author's Response: Haha, good guess, but no. It took me a long time to come up with the name "Alek Riverbed". Every single letter was chosen with a purpose *hint, hint* I had a lot of fun writing Severus and Demeter. There will hopefully be more sweet father-daughter moments. |

Nice, nice, nice! I have loved this chapter. The friendship between Demeter and Melvin is heartwarming. Personally, I have always detested the division between the various Houses: I think that stimulating that kind of competition can only lead to hate and rivalry. And, in fact, this is what has sadly happened to the Slytherins, who seem to be always mistrusted and discarded by the other three Houses. BTW, being the daughter of a Professor and Head of House is going to be tough for Demeter. Just imagine how many mute accusations of being favored she will receive... Anyway, back to chapter, I have liked the way Snape is trying to help and become part of his daughter's life. Surely, with such a protector, she is going to shine ;)
And finally, a question: which is the relationship between Melvin's mother and Alek? They both have the same surname, so, what kind of relatives are they? If you can reveal it, of course ;))
Looking forward to more.
Author's Response: I have a feeling this might be a chapter in your taste :) And I actually had loads of fun writing it. We both know that Severus will not just open his arms and offer his daughter a hug. But when he sees their similarities, he will pick up on them. Melvin's mother is Alek's sister. They have the same last name because Melvin's mother isn't married. Remember, Melvin doesn't know his father and his mother never told him who he is. (Insert dramatic music.) |
