I think Aurora is a great character and probably would have been a very good match for Severus, had things been different. I imagine her to be youngish, maybe a little older than Severus even, good-looking with pale skin, dark hair and blue eyes. A Ravenclaw, of course! I also wonder whether she is all that she appears, with the name "Sinistra" sounding like "sinister", which could open up a whole new area of fanfic exploration! This to me reads like a snapshot of the middle of a fic, and I want to know what goes before and what comes after, if that makes sense. In other words, would be great if you continued.

Author's Response: I agree that this does almost beg to be continued but, in view of what we've discussed lately, that's highly unlikely now. However, I never say never and I don't suppose the world of fanfic will just disappear, so who knows?! Thank you so much for such a lovely review, star_girl - you know how much they mean to me; you were one of the first reviewers of my work & I was so delighted that you'd taken the time to read/review as, at the time, I was following your 'A Kind Of Magic' & you've supported me ever since - it meant a lot then & it means a lot now x x :-)

Naw, that was really sweet. Are you planning to continue this?

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it but, no, having thought about it, I can't somehow see me continuing with it to be honest :-)

You're on fire at the moment, Sevvy - Well that's one excellent strategy for coping with tinnitus, I hope it helped a bit, and if it did nothing else, at least it fuelled this treat for us readers. I do the 'imagine Alan Rickman's voice' when husband and son are begging to be fed and I'm too busy 'Snapeing' - I know, I'm wicked. I like this a lot, it has the promise of something interesting. I actually think they might be becoming one of my favourite pairings.

Author's Response: I don't know about being on fire at the moment, hexgirl (unless you count the hot flushes that are all too frequent now!) I definitely agree though that the Sinistra/Snape pairing works really well. Thanks for the lovely review again & for your continued loyalty :-)

Ooo... lovely snapshot. They're suddenly thrown into such intimacy. I wonder what it's like when they next see each other?

Author's Response: Thank you, Rose. It is interesting to think how they would react when they next see each other. I have a feeling Snape (being Snape) may start to regret his words ... he may well be worried about starting a relationship with someone he can secretly communicate with when the Dark Lord's around (thus putting her in danger.) On the other hand, I'm guessing he could really do with a friend at such times! I shall have to ponder on this now ... :-)

Why not continue this? You have the beginning of a good romance here and I'd like to read more. I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember. I was told by my doctor that it's probably the result of scar tissue from ear infections I was prone to when I was a baby and a toddler. That was back before they put tubes in the ears and my mother told me that my ears had been lanced a couple of times to remove any pus that had collected because of the infection. It's been there so long I no longer notice it, unless something reminds me that it's there. For years I thought it was normal and everybody had it until I talked about it with a friend who was a nurse. I once matched the tone on my piano, it matched the b flat 2 octaves above middle C. That's the note I always had problems with. I have a Wagnerian dramatic soprano voice and all the arias that suited my voice all had that b flat at their climatic point. My favorites were 'Vissi D'arte' and 'Pace, Pace, Mio Dio', but that note kept me from singing them anyplace but my voice lessons. I could sing that high C, but not the b flat.

Author's Response: I'm glad you think this is good enough to continue, Trickie Woo - maybe I should seriously consider that, even though I only ever intended this to be a one-shot. Thank you for sharing your tinnitus history with me. I think I'm right in saying (from something you'd written before) that, like me, you have other health issues. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia &, unfortunately, tinnitus often seems to be part of the 'bigger picture' with such conditions. Interestingly, I too suffered lots of ear/upper respiratory infections as a child (& consequently had lots of antibiotics which probably damaged nerves etc.) However, when mine first started (aged 17), it was just about bearable & could be covered with everyday noises. But for the past several years (& particularly following an ENT op on my nose/sinuses three years ago), it has reached an intolerable level that, even with the radio & TV at high volume, cannot be drowned out! No doubt like you (& the thousands of others who suffer such things), I live in hope of a cure or at least an allieviation. To date nothing has worked (though believe me when I say I've tried everything!!) Until then, I guess I shall just have to make do with the lovely Mr. Rickman's voice (though preferably not his singing one - I'm afraid I'm not a fan of that!) BTW: Thanks for the review! Stay positive :-)

Hey, I made my kids watch "Help! I'm a Fish" just so I had another excuse to listen to AR. Nice story. Canon actually revolts me in the neglect of even a mention of adult marriages/divorces/relationships of the staff. Especially when it's such a big deal with her under age child characters. Sinistra really works with Snape.

Author's Response: Making your kids watch 'Help! I'm a Fish' is just cruel, a1severuslives! (Hehe); though I confess to doing the same thing with my youngest son not so long ago! As I've just said to a previous reviewer, although I love AR's voice, I'm not a fan of his singing one and he does sing in that! I too think Sinistra works well with Snape - I've been quite a fan of that pairing for a while now, and I also agree that there is not enough mention of staff relationships/status in canon. Thank you so much for the lovely review! :-)
