| I like it so far but it could use some brit-picking. British only use the word 'ma'am' to address royalty. Snape would have called his new companion 'madam'. Author's Response: Alas, I'm sure there are many errors of that sort. This was one of the first things I wrote, long ago, when I'd barely heard of betas, let alone brit-pickers. | Overall, excellent, though I don't recall specific mention of Lucius as a pike adornment.
A very human characterization of Severus, certainly without making him into something sappy. Well done.

| Gutting him and putting his head on a pike - I get visions of Vir Cotto, but with Mr. Morden's practicality, given Severus's lack of Vir's less dangerous characteristics.
